Most cookie policies are long because the site has a lot to declare. This one is short for the opposite reason.
We use no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies, and never have. Browsing the public site stores nothing in your browser. Signing in stores one thing: the token that keeps you signed in.
A consent banner exists to obtain permission before non-essential storage is set on your device — advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, profiling. We set none of those, so there is nothing to ask permission for.
Our page-view counter is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, so the rules that require a banner do not apply to it. It is also disabled outright for EU visitors, which is the strictest position we could take short of not counting at all.
The only thing we store is your sign-in session, and that is exempt from consent requirements because it is strictly necessary to deliver a service you explicitly asked for. You cannot both ask to be signed in and refuse the thing that keeps you signed in.
If we ever add analytics or advertising, a banner appears first and nothing is set until you agree to it.
When you sign in, our authentication provider stores a session token in your browser. It identifies your session so you are not asked for your password on every page.
Signing out, or clearing site data in your browser, removes it immediately.
Typefaces from Google Fonts. Google Fonts does not set cookies. It does receive your IP address as a necessary part of serving the file, which is covered in our Privacy Policy.
A page-view counter from Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser — which is precisely why it appears on this page as a thing we load rather than a thing we store. It is not sent at all to visitors in the EU. There is more detail in our Privacy Policy.
The site is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may, on some configurations, set a security cookie to identify traffic that is likely to be abusive. If present, such a cookie is strictly necessary for the security of the site and carries no advertising or profiling function.
The application is not a browser and does not use cookies. It writes a settings file and a usage tally to your own application-data folder. Both are local to your machine and are described in the Privacy Policy.
If we later add product analytics or any advertising technology:
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site data from its settings, and offers a mode that discards them when you close the window. Blocking storage for this domain will sign you out and prevent you signing back in, but will not otherwise affect the public pages.
